Opening Night

Global Movie Fest 2014 brings to Purdue University critically acclaimed Indian drama - Ship of Theseus" on Feb 28th, 6 PM.

Don't miss the experience to watch Ship of Theseus on large screen, your only chance to watch the movie on large screen in this area...


The event will start with an opening ceremony where Asha Purdue, OMEGA repsentatives and invited guest will talk about details of the event and will kickstart the film festival. Opening ceremony will be followed by screening of Ship of Theseus. Snacks and food will be on sale during the event. All the funds raised by food sale will go for upporting educational projects.

 

The Film Festival is free for all. Donations are welcome. Please come early as seats are limited in auditorium.

Spotlight on "The Girl Rising"

From Academy Award-nominated director Richard E. Robbins, award-winning Documentary Group, Vulcan Productions and Intel Corporation comes Girl Rising - an innovative new feature film about the power of education to change a girl -- and the world.


The film spotlights unforgettable girls like Sokha, an orphan who rises from the dumps of Cambodia to become a star student and an accomplished dancer;  Like the 66 million girls around the world who dream of going to school, what Sokha, Suma, Ruksana and the rest want most is to be students: to learn. Spotlight on "A Separation"

GFF will screen Oscar winning film "A Separation" on March 1st, 6 PM.A Separation is a 2011 Iranian drama film which focuses on an Iranian middle-class couple who separate, and the conflicts that arise when the husband hires a lower-class care giver for his elderly father, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease.


Iranian student club at Purdue univeristy will join us during the creening. After the screening, a discussion or short talk by Iranian student club will be conducted and everyone interested are invited to join the discussion. Authentic food from the region will be on sale. Come Join us and enjoy this beautiful film from Iran. We thank Iranian Cultural Club (ICC) for their support of this event.

12 Years A Slave

Global Film Festival, organized by ASHA for Education - Purdue Chapter in collaboration with OMEGA presents Oscar 2014 winner in the 'Best Picture' category - "12 Years A Slave" on March 7th, 6 PM, Krannert Auditorium.

 

Synopsis-In the pre-Civil War United States, Solomon Northup, a free black man from upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. Facing cruelty at the hands of a malevolent slave owner, as well as unexpected kindnesses, Solomon struggles not only to stay alive, but to retain his dignity. In the twelfth year of his unforgettable odyssey, Solomon's chance meeting with a Canadian abolitionist will forever alter his life.

Global Movie Fest 2014 brings to Purdue University Oscar winning film in best foreign film category- The Great Beauty (La grande bellezza- Italy) on March 29th, 6 PM, Krannert Auditorium. Various critics have named the film as one of the best of 2013.
